Salerno waterfront

info

The Trieste waterfront of Salerno is a large tree-lined garden (entirely pedestrian, 30 meters wide and about 1 km and a half long) that runs along the Tyrrhenian Sea divided on several lanes, it goes from the historic center to the tourist port in Piazza della Concordia. The city promenade welcomes many people, in summer and winter: it is the privileged place of young people who meet there at any time of day or night, for athletes who prefer outdoor physical activity and families who can enjoy a walk to the sea. The promenade comes alive during the spring holidays with animation activities for the little ones, with the traditional puppet theater, markets and fairs.

The benches facing the sea offer a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Salerno. The cliff, the small pier for mooring and artistic lighting are the characteristic features of the Salerno waterfront. In the 90s a monumental fountain was also built directly on the sea which enriches the design of the long pedestrian walkway.

The structure, which is already among the longest in Italy as well as one of the most beautiful for its lush exotic vegetation and for the spectacular panorama of the Gulf of Salerno, is still growing. In fact, the promenade runs along the entire city, reaching the southern coast of Salerno. Gardens and pedestrian sidewalks are also present along other parts of the city's waterfront, namely Lungomare Tafuri, Lungomare Marconi, Lungomare Colombo and the picturesque promenade of Porticciolo di Pastena. The pedestrian path is also accompanied by a cycle path for lovers of "green mobility". The palm grove of the Lungomare is twinned with that of Sanremo, for botanical-scientific protection.
